How the test works
The questions get harder as you go. Most people do not finish all 30, and that is expected.
Three kinds of reasoning
Grids of figures with a missing piece, number and letter series, and shapes to turn in your head. None of them needs knowledge of words, maths beyond the basics or general culture.
A real time limit
You have 30 minutes. The clock keeps running if you close the page, and your answers are saved in this browser, so you can pick up where you left off.
Skip and come back
Stuck? Skip the question and use the numbered track at the top to return to it. Only right answers count, so guessing never costs you.
A full review
At the end you see every question with your answer, the right one and a short explanation.
What the scores mean
IQ scores are set so the average is 100 and two thirds of people land between 85 and 115.
| IQ | Range | Share of people |
|---|---|---|
| 130+ | Very high | 2% |
| 120–129 | High | 7% |
| 110–119 | Above average | 17% |
| 90–109 | Average | 49% |
| 80–89 | Below average | 16% |
| 70–79 | Low | 6% |
| ≤ 69 | Very low | 2% |
Shares follow the normal curve with a standard deviation of 15, the convention most modern tests use.

Questions
Is this IQ test really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email and no payment to see your score. The site is funded without selling results.
How accurate is an online IQ test?
A good online test can give a useful estimate, but it cannot replace a test given by a psychologist under controlled conditions. Treat your score as a range, which is why the result shows one.
What is a good IQ score?
The average is 100. About two thirds of people score between 85 and 115, and a score above 130 puts you in roughly the top 2%.
Can I take the test again?
Yes, but your second score will usually be higher because you have seen the questions. The first attempt is the most honest one.
Are my answers stored?
Your individual answers stay in your browser so you can continue an unfinished test. When you finish, your result and the details you entered before the test are sent to us so we can email the result to you. See the privacy policy.
